Tribal Circles

Made in 2008 this piece was an experiment in cutting up circles and putting them back together, using my favorite fall palate of colors it reminds me of jungle prints.

Fantasy Bird

This is a tiny thread painted bird, based on an indigo bunting but the colors are more fanciful than the actual bird, the leaves are silk and have been painted with metalic paint and sewed onto the quilt.

Dining in the Thistle Jungle

This quilt has a focal point of thread painted goldfinches and thistle flowers, the outer borders are thistle leaves and flowers on a pieced background of purples and greens. This quilt was entered in the IQA show in Houston in 2008.

Bleeding Hearts

This quilt completed in 2008 was inspired by a bleeding heart plant in my spring garden, the shapes of the leaves and flowers were abstracted into simple shapes and appliqued on squares of various navy batiks, sewn down with button hold stitch by machine and pieced on point. The color combination of the bright green, pinks and navy are very pleasing to me.

Woodland Sighting

A quilt made in 2006, which won first place ribbons in both the Paducah AQS show and the Houston IQA show. It was featured on the cover of the AQS fall catalogue and in the IQA 2009 wall calendar. It also is pictured in the book "100 Things You Need to Know if You Own a Quilt" and in an article in American Style Magazine Feb. 2009 about emerging fiber artists.

Poison Ivy

A person favorite of mine, this quilt has a sun painted background and many of the leaves are painted fabric, the dragon fly is stenciled. This was made in 2004 for a Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society challenge and won several ribbons in that contest. It was also shown at the Arboritum Art show in Lexington in 2008 .
